I am very excited to share some details around another amazing business transformation. Client is a large scale multi-country, multi-currency entertainment company that is now live on Oracle Cloud Financials.
Too often folks overlook the need for “disruptive change management” when implementing a project. Software, when implemented as vanilla as possible, tends to be a very generic and binary process. I am not making a blanket statement that there is no effort or skill involved. I am saying that given an off the shelf system with no customizations, you can expect and will receive consistent repeatable results. Everything else that makes the project wildly successful requires a ton of effort, even more skill and a very high EQ.
An unhappy team means a failed project plain and simple. Even if the software works as intended you still have a broken system. Sometimes folks forget that users are part of the project and system and do not plan accordingly. When you take the entire enterprise into consideration, amazing things can be accomplished.
Highlights for the effort are:
- Retired 9 disparate financial systems into Oracle Cloud Financials under a single chart of accounts. Each of the legacy systems had their own unique chart of accounts and most were utilizing multiple currencies.
- Successfully integrated three disparate front of house order management systems into a single Oracle Cloud Financials system.
- Live on Oracle Cloud Financials with Inventory!
- Implemented enterprise Middleware tool / Oracle (ICS) Integration Cloud Services.
- First customer globally to be successfully live on Vertex’s new O Series cloud tax solution in multiple countries.
- Exchange rates are fully automated via Oanda Foreign Exchange rate service utilizing their API in conjunction with Oracle (ICS) Integration Cloud Services.
- Developed and adopted master data program. This ensures key operational data is controlled and synchronized across the corporate enterprise which improves data quality in Enterprise BI reporting and KPI accuracy.
Julie Mong, the visionary leader and tireless advocate that implemented this initiative, was successful in laying out and gaining acceptance for the company’s data driven, strategic financial technology roadmap. Her foresight and leadership has provided the tools necessary to enable the company to succeed in the rapidly changing Media and Entertainment space. Julie’s vision, execution and delivery of a unified cloud based solution was often buffered by the expected headwinds of indifference, skepticism and sometimes resistance.
